The challenges of contemporary society (such as the increase in the elderly population and chronic conditions, together with a substantial decrease in material and immaterial resources) demand to the healthcare system to be reconfigured ensuring long term effective and sustainable results. This involves the need to enhance and promote a co-authorial role of citizens/patients in the definition of their health paths. In this perspective, there is a unanimous recognition by health stakeholders of the importance of supporting the Engagement and participation of patients and other actors involved in the healthcare system (caregivers, health professionals ...).
The Engagement Monitor project was set up in order to provide evidence-based demonstration of the positive impact of the active and conscious engagement of citizens in healthcare, not only in terms of individual but also collective health outcomes.
The "Engagement Monitor" aims at activating a continuous monitoring of Engagement in the national healthcare scenario in order to contribute, over time, to the promotion of initiatives and evidence-based interventions that support the participation of citizens-patients in healthcare.
The Monitor project aims at a multi-disciplinary and cross-disciplinary comparison in order to generate evidence and ideas for a complex evaluation of the general status of the promotion of Engagement in our country.
The hypothesis is to generate a co-constructed scientific research environment based on the needs and expectations of the different stakeholder groups, and conducted under the methodological supervision of EngageMinds HUB and its researchers. This, with the ultimate goal of contributing to the promotion of initiatives and evidence-based interventions aimed at supporting the participation of citizens/patients in healthcare.
The "Engagement Monitor" is also a channel to give voice to the various actors involved in the healthcare system and to understand their needs and expectations of participation and Engagement.
The Engagement Monitor project is supported by the supervision of a scientific control room - the Engagement Council – composed by qualified expert members representing the world of patient and family associations, scientific societies and institutions, with a special focus on generating a co-constructed research space based on the needs and expectations of the different stakeholder worlds and conducted under the methodological supervision of EngageMinds HUB and its researchers.
Thanks to an intense multidisciplinary work done with the members of the Engagement Council, a questionnaire has been developed to collect, at national level, the experience of engagement of adult patients (adults) in their healthcare journey.
The questionnaire is accessible at the following link: https://unicatt.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_bJX3qxANvRrDyWp If you would like to help us spread we would be grateful!
